Primary Bedroom Refresh
This year if you have been following along on my social media I entered the One Room Challenge again. Over the past 8 weeks I have transformed our primary bedroom from builder—grade to tailor—made. This time I decided to keep it simple. Read: easy projects that would dramatically transform the space. I purchased furniture that I put together straight out of the packaging. I got the nightstands from Amazon for only $100 a piece. And these nightstands were easy to put together and very solid (not to mention pretty). Then I made a day trip to Ikea to find a dresser. It needed to be cheap (less than $500), clean and classic in style, and bigger than my current dresser. Enter the Hemnes. This eight drawer dresser was a beast to put together. Whew. I didn’t alter the pieces because again easy was the name of the game this year.
I created a board and batten wall that was super simple to do by myself. Trust me if you like the look then you could easily master that project (how to blog coming up in the near future!). Then I purchased high quality paint and used two colors to really transform the space. I painted the walls a light sage-y green called Rainwashed by Sherwin Williams. Then I painted the trim, baseboards, and doors Rocky River also by Sherwin Williams. The drama added by painting the trim, baseboards, and doors a dark green was just the right amount of spice to level up this builder—grade to taior—made.
This project flew by and I can’t wait to take you guys through the steps involved in creating a board and batten wall. Look for that in my next blog post. Thank you for all your support and for following along, if you want more details check out the highlight, ORC Spring ‘22, on my Instagram.
Please don’t forget to check out the other guest participants from this year. There are some amazing designers and diy-ers this year!
